Out of my way, boy!
Intro:
Ask a close white friend of yours, whats Black peoples favorite food? I’ll put money on it they’ll swiftly respond, “Fried Chicken.” Then simply ask them why? Most likely they’ll respond with a clueless stare. So the question at hand is, Why are Black people synonymous with KFC?
So I began my search for the answer. First stop, Google. I entered, “why do black people like KFC?” Not to my suprise, someone already asked that question on Yahoo Questions. Here are some of my favorite responses
Summer - because it is tasty.. and it have alot of brach on whole world…. so when u like to eat .. u wont scared u wont have no place to taste it again.. haaha
Regina - I am black and i hate KFC! — Lies.
Steve C. - I have never understood that stereotype. I grew up in SC, and on Sunday after church at the lake it was the white people that had the chicken and watermelon. Most of the folks here (TN) at KFC are white gramma and grandpa.

My Observations:
Where I grew up we had a KFC and a Popeyes across the street from eachother. From what I saw, the employees at the KFC were ALL Black except one hispanic lady and the customers were 75% white, many of them over the age of 40.
The Mexicans worked at Popeyes. Now if your a Negro from the South, you choose ya chicken carefully. And according to my calculations, Popeyes is whats poppin’ for Black people. During lunch hour each restaurant would fill up, majority of whites in KFC, blacks in Popeyes.
Popeyes has made one bad move, they no longer use Louisiana Hot Sauce, it’s some booboo hot sauce now, so takeout is the way to go.
Final Word:
Black people love chicken, so do white people, the only difference is we don’t substitute our chicken for effing meatloaf and tuna casserole. Who the fu*k really wants to eat meatloaf anyway? It doesn’t even sound appetizing. I will perform more extensive research on this matter and get back to you.

My black friends prefer Nando’s!! Proper chicken! As you pointed out. I reckon it’s down to the sauces!
I live in Atlanta. The entire metro area is basically segregated right down the middle. You can tell which side you are on by counting the chicken restaurants you drive by. This stereotype is at least somewhat accurate.
Don’t mess with a white man’s meatloaf! That is a WP tradition. I do like KFC, and Popeyes, but my wife hates fried chicken at these places so I don’t get to eat it very often.
I cant stand fride chicken, goes back to childhood and watching it be cleaned. Do they even clean it at those places. But that’s not even my reason for commenting. I’m hear to say that I love meatloaf and you can put hotsauce right in the meat. That shit is amazing, you gotta try it, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, an Olde E and a philly got you set for the night son.
Yeah my dad got his stomach turned the other day when we walked into churches, and the blood from the chicken was dripping into the batter. Can you say ew?
And @ Meatloaf, I’ll have to try that someday.
i cant hate on meatloaf…with mashed tatoes (lol) with gravy and cabbage….you know how the south does!!
oh and kfc is nasty!!popeyes all day….

I LOVE FRIED CHICKEN
but I currently live in Kentucky where there are clearly no other chicken joint. I hate KFC and I’d rather eat gravel than KFC. we had a popeyes but they closed it down so now my only hope for fried chicken is Cracker Barrel on sundays
lorrrrd…my flat mate came in with a kfc yesterday and i damned near committed murder to get a taste… i became rabid upon smelling that greasy goodness… am so ashamed of myself…
That chicken just be tastin so good tho, even at room temperature..I can’t lie.
Popeye’s sucks. At least in the Carolinas it sucks. Everyone I know who is a fried chicken fan is all about some Bojangle’s.
I had a AFA professor who said when she was growing up in Jim Crow south the one of the places that let black people eat there was KFC, might have been another fried chicken place. So obviously black people would frequent there and the stereotype began. Again don’t know how true that is but would make sense.
