African American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston Receives Two Community Grants

HOUSTON- The African American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston (AACCGH )announces that they have been selected as the recipient of two grants totaling $410,000 to serve the North Houston area. The Gulf Coast Community Association funds will provide 30 entrepreneurs with home based business training and assist them in launching primary or secondary streams of income.
The Houston Galveston Area Council will sponsor ongoing services in the area of workforce development training and placement, case management, financial literacy and youth leadership and entrepreneurship to those impacted by Hurricane Ike.All classes for November and December will be held at the AACCGH chamber office, 6112 Wheatley, Houston, Texas 77091.
The organization’s Annual Holiday Business Networking Luncheon will include a candidate forum and is moderated by Rep. Sylvester Turner, Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, at the Acres Home Multi-Service Center., 6719 West Montgomery. For ticket information or membership call Maxine Hadnot at (713)692-7003.
